DU VC pledges smooth student services

A Dhaka University (DU) student, who started hunger strike from Tuesday, broke the fast unto death on Wednesday after getting assurances that the harassment of student service seekers at the Registered Building of the university would be reduced.

Vice-Chancellor (VC) Prof Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman assured him of creating a congenial environment so that they could get their services at the Registered Building without any harassment.

Hasnat Abdullah drank water to break the strike at the request of the VC. The VC also assured students would not need to go to the Registered Building for all activities in future.

The master's degree student in DU's English Department, began the protest at around 12:00 pm on Tuesday in front of the university's administrative building to press home an eight-point demand, including addressing the harassment of student service seekers.
