DU\\\'s int\\\'l confce begins today

With a view to celebrating the 50th anniversary of founding of the Institute of Statistical Research and Training of Dhaka University (DU), a three-day international conference on Applied Statistics (ICAS)-2014, will begin at Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban today (Saturday), says a press release.
The theme of the conference is Applied Statistics: Meeting the Challenges of the 21st century that highlight the amazing opportunities for applied statistics in the upcoming decades and to prepare for the challenges ahead.
Foreign Minister Abul Hassan Mahmood Ali will inaugurate the programme. A total of 141 papers (61 invited and 80 contributed) are finding place in the three scientific sessions.
Three highly acclaimed statisticians, Dr James L Rosenberger, professor of Pennsylvania State University and vice president of the American Statistical Association (ASA), Dr Pranab K Sen, Cary C Boshamer, professor of Biostatistics of University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and Dr Dipak Dey, board of trustees distinguished professor of University of Connecticut will address this conference as keynote speakers.
There would be 15 invited sessions participated by 16 countries including Bangladesh, India, USA, Australia, Canada, UK and Kuwait.
