Ebtedayee teachers to stage demo today

FE REPORT | November 03, 2025 00:00:00

Teachers of Ebtedayee madrasahs, who have been protesting for five key demands, have announced a demonstration on Monday to press their call.

On Sunday, the teachers had attempted to march towards the State Guest House Jamuna, the official residence of the chief adviser, but police stopped them near Kadam Fountain Crossing. They then staged a sit-in on the road while representatives proceeded to the Secretariat for talks.

Following discussions between teacher representatives and officials from the Technical and Madrasah Education Division at the Ministry of Education, the teachers agreed to vacate the road, reports bdnews24.com.

Returning from the Secretariat, Kazi Mokhlesur Rahman, chairman of the Independent Ebtedayee Madrasah Teachers' Unity Front, said, "Our demands are five in total, and the authorities have committed to fulfilling all. One of the demands will be signed on Monday."

The teachers have been observing a sit-in with five key demands, including immediate implementation of the government's January 28, 2025 decision to nationalise all independent Ebtedayee madrasahs -- both subsidised and unsubsidised.
