Edn govt’s top priority sector, says Mannan

SYLHET, Oct 10 (BSS): State Minister for Finance and Planning MA Mannan said Friday the government has been implementing various programmes for the development of education because it is the government's top priority sector.

He said the country is going ahead as per the 'Vision-2041' of the government and urged all including students, teachers and guardians to extend cooperation to the government in implanting this vision.

The state minister was speaking as chief guest at a function organised by Sunamganj Samity, Dhaka to accord reception to students who got GPA-5 in the HSC examinations in 2014.

President of the samity Mizanur Rahman, joint secretary of jute and textile ministry, presided over the function while vice-chancellor of Sylhet Shahjalal Science and Technology University Dr Aminul Haq Bhuiyan, former education secretary Dr Md Sadek, Sunamganj Zila Council administrator Barrister M Enamul Kabir, deputy commissioner Sheikh Rafiqul Islam and police super Md Harun-or-Rashid, among others, spoke on the occasion.

General Secretary of Sunamgaj Samity Dr Md Abul Kalam Chowdhury conducted the function. The guests handed over crest to 153 meritorious students.
