Efforts ongoing to manufacture Covid-19 vaccine locally

MANIKGANJ, May 16 (BSS): Health and Family Welfare Minister Zahid Maleque said efforts to manufacture Covid-19 vaccine continue in the country to meet its growing demand as the pandemic situation worsens day by day.

"Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has already given her consent in this regard," he said.

The minister came up with the remarks while speaking at an Eid reunion discussion with the local government officials and political leaders at his Gorpar pleasure garden in the district.

"As the government has taken some precautionary measures to tackle the Covid-19 situation, the virus in our country is more under control than others in the developed countries like the United State of America (USA), Europe and India," the minister said.

The effort has been continuing to import vaccines from the USA and India.

Deputy Commissioner of Manikganj SM Ferdous, Superintendent of Police (SP) Rifat Rahman Shamim, Manikganj Zila Parishad Chairman Advocate Golam Mohiuddin, General Secretary of District Awami League Advocate Abdus Salam, mayor of Manikganj Pourasabha Md Ramjan Ali, district Awami League Vice-President Advocate Abdul Mojid, Additional SP of Manikganj Sadar Circle Bhaskar Saha, Manikganj Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Mohammad Iqbal Hossain, UNO of Saturia Ashraful Alom, General Secretary of Manikganj Sadar Afsar uddin Sarker, General Secretary Manikganj Diabetic Hospital AFM Sultanul Azam Khan Apel, Manikganj District Sports Association (DSA) General Secretary Sudeb Saha, General Secretary of Manikganj Sadar Upazila Awami League Afsar Uddin Sarker, Manikganj Pourasabha Awami League President Monayem Khan and its General Secretary Zahidul Islam were present, among others, on the occasion.
