Recreation spots in the capital, Dhaka, have drawn huge crowds in the days following Eid, as the festive mood remained vibrant throughout the extended holiday period.

Although offices reopened on Tuesday after a week-long break, many people were still seen in a holiday mood, exchanging Eid greetings.

People from different walks of life thronged various venues, including amusement parks, cinema halls, the national zoo, and open public spaces, to make the most of their holidays.

Families, particularly those with young children, gathered in large numbers at popular amusement facilities, where rides and recreational activities operated at near full capacity throughout the week.

Many residents also chose to spend time in open public spaces such as Hatirjheel, Ramna Park, and Dhanmondi Lake, which offered more relaxed and affordable leisure options.

The Mirpur National Zoo was packed to capacity on Tuesday from the morning, with visitors standing in long queues to see animals ranging from tigers and lions to exotic birds.

Despite the heat and congestion, a visitor said, "We have come to give our children Eid joy - it's still one of the best places to visit, and the environment feels somewhat improved."

Ramna Park, a large open space in the heart of the capital, also drew huge crowds on Tuesday. Visitors began arriving in the morning, but the crowd multiplied several times by the afternoon. The lakeside, newly built wooden decks, and walkways were packed to capacity.

The children's play zone had a festive atmosphere, while many families were seen spreading mats on the grass, enjoying food, and spending quality time together.

Sujon Mahmud, a private employee who came from Jatrabari with his family, said, "Work keeps me busy most of the time, so I rarely get to go out with my family. With the roads relatively clear today, we arrived quickly. Many people are visiting, and it feels great to spend time together in the greenery of Ramna Park."

Noor Hossain, a toy vendor at the park entrance, said sales had increased compared to regular days due to the higher number of visitors. "Many people, including families with young children, have come out during the Eid holidays, which has boosted business," he added.

Cinema halls also experienced a notable rise in attendance, buoyed by festive releases and special screenings of Bengali films. Industry insiders reported that ticket sales remained strong throughout the Eid period, reflecting renewed interest in theatrical experiences among urban audiences.
