Eid time road crashes kill 285: RSF


At least 285 people were killed in 240 road accidents across the country during Eid-ul-Fitr journey this year.
Apart from these, at least 454 others were injured (the number could be much higher as reported) in the 14 days before and after the Eid (from April 16 to April 29), according to a report revealed by the Road Safety Foundation (RSF) on Tuesday.
Of the total dead, 26 were women and 53 children.
A total of 133 people died in 127 motorcycle accidents, which is 46.66 per cent of the total fatalities. The rate of motorcycle accidents was registered at 52.91 per cent.
Reckless driving of motorcycles killed 16 pedestrians while 51 per cent of the motorcycle accident victims were between the age of 13 and 20, according to the report.
In 2022, 156 people were killed in 128 motorcycle accidents during Eid-ul-Fitr journey.
