Eighteen killed in separate road accidents

Eighteen persons were killed and 21 others injured in separate road accidents across the country, reports BSS.
Three persons were killed and three others injured in a road accident at Jugibari area on Satkhira-Jessore road under Kalaroa Upazila of the Satkhira district Wednesday.
The victims were identified as Tutul son of Ayub Ali, Shahin (20), son of Abdul Mollik and Azharul Islam (25), son of Robiul Islam all of village Jhapaghata under Kalaroa Upazila,
Police and hospital sources said, a Satkhira bound mini bus ran over an engine van coming from the opposite direction at Jugibari area on Satkhira-Jessore road under Kalaroa Upazila. As a result engine van passenger Tutul died on the spot while Shahin and Azharul succumbed to their injuries at Satkhira sadar hospital.
Meanwhile, three more persons were killed in separate road accidents in Jamalpur Sadar Upazila Wednesday.
According to police, Manik (45), of village Mohanpur, a rickshawa van passenger was killed on the spot when a truck hit the rickshaw at Jamtali-Tulshipur road at 2:00 pm.
In another incident two passengers of a Votvoti (country made motorised vehicle) were killed on Jamalpur Mymensingh-Dhaka road at 6:30 pm when a Dhaka bound bus rammed the vehicle which was standing at Kathaltala, from behind.
In the accident Ismail Hossain (17), son of Nurul Islam and Abdur Rashid (16), son of Suruj Ali of village Gheramarar char under Tulshir char union were killed on the spot.
On the other hand, five persons including a specialist physician and his daughter were killed and 18 others injured in two separate road accidents in Rangpur Wednesday and Thursday amid partially foggy weather, police sources said.
Meanwhile, seven persons including a young girl were killed in separate incidents in the city and in greater district during the three-day Eid holidays.
The dead were identified as Imran Hossain (50), Shahor Mulluk, (30), Shamsul Islam, (21), Mohammad Absar, (23), Rashedul Islam, (18), son of late Ruhul Islam, Mirsarai Upazila, Shahidul Islam, (26), Mohammad Ibrahim, Mondakini Upazila, and Kulsum Begum, (25), daughter of Shahidul Islam.
Imran Hossain, Shahor Mulluk, Shahidul Islam, Abser, Kulsum Begum,Shahidul Islam received injuries in separate road accidents in different places in the city and districts in last three days.
They succumbed to their injuries at Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH).
Rashedul Islam, committed suicide by taking poison over family feud at his residence last night.
He was rushed to Chittagong medical College Hospital where the attending doctors declared him dead.
