Eleven persons killed in separate incidents

Eleven persons were killed and many others injured in separate incidents in different places of the country during the last two days, report agencies.
In Mymensingh, two housewives were killed and 30 others injured in a road accident at Kodaldhar in Phulpur Upazila Thursday.
The police said the accident took place on the Mymensingh-Haluaghat Road at about 11am when a bus hit a roadside tree as the driver lost control over steering, leaving 32 passengers injured.
Ten of the injured were admitted to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital where two of them, Firoza and Momena died after admission.
The police later seized the bus but failed to arrest its driver as he fled away after the accident.
In Panchagarh, a two-year-old baby drowned at a pond at Shahapara village in Sadar Upazila.
Local people said Swapan, son of Sultan, suddenly slipped into a nearby pond and drowned when he went out of the house with his grandmother.
In another incident, a youth was arrested on charge of raping and killing a primary schoolgirl at Mirgar Modyapara in Sadar Upazila Monday.
When produced the court granted the police three-day remand of killer Jasimuddin Babu.
The police said he murdered Rimu, daughter of Imamuddin, after rape on August 8.
In Narsingdi, three people, including a woman, were killed and 15 others injured in a tragic road accident at Nilkuthi in Raipura Upazila Wednesday.
Witnesses said the accident occurred at 10 pm when a speeding minibus collided with a pickup van leaving the three people dead on the spot.
Two of the deceased were identified as Abdul Hamid and Majnu Mia. The identity of the woman could not be known immediately. The injured were admitted to a local health centre.
Another report from Sirajganj adds: A pedestrian was crushed under the wheels of a bus at Baniagati area of west link road of Jamuna Bridge in Kamarkhand Upazila Wednesday.
Witnesses said the Dhaka-bound bus from Pabna ran over Jabdul, while he was crossing the road at about 11am killing him on the spot.
In Jessore, two linemen of cable TV were electrocuted at Mallikpur village in Jhikargachha Upazila Wednesday.
Witnesses said Haroon and Jahangir came in contact with a live electric wire while giving new cable TV connection to a subscriber at about 9am.
