Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina directed the Bangladesh embassy in Riyadh and other concerned on Saturday to take immediate steps to provide all necessary assistance to the Bangladeshi Hajj pilgrims injured in crane collapse in Mecca, report agencies.
"Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has directed all concerned in Bangladesh Embassy in Riyadh and personnel involved in Hajj programme to provide necessary assistance to the Bangladeshi victims of a crane collapse at the Grand Mosque in Mecca," said a message from PMO.
According to the media report, at least 40 Bangladeshi Hajj pilgrims were injured in the collapse of the crane.
Meanwhile, President Md Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina expressed deep shock and sorrow on Saturday at the tragic death of 107 people in a deadly crane collapse at the Grand Mosque in Mecca.
In a condolence message, the President prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed his deep sympathy to the bereaved family members.
"I am deeply shocked and at tears learning about the tragic demise of 107 and injury of more than 234 brethren, mostly the guests of the Almighty Allah who gathered at His house to respond His call for Hajj, caused by a fatal collapse of a crane at the Grand Mosque in Makkah," said the PM in a condolence message sent to King of Saudi Arabia Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud.
She said that people and the government of Bangladesh joined her in expressing their deepest condolences and heartfelt sympathies to the King, and through him to the bereaved family members of the victims and the injured people from different countries.
"May the deceased rest in eternal peace in the highest place in the paradise. We also pray for early recovery of those who were wounded. May the Almighty Allah grant the victims and their near and dear ones the fortitude and patience to bear this irreparable loss."
