Enactment of consumers' rights protection act emphasised

RAJSHAHI, Nov 15: Speakers at a workshop on "Energy-Rights and Respon-sibility of the Consumers" organised by Consumers Association of Bangladesh (CAB) have emphasised for enactment and implementation of Consumers' Rights Protection Act in the form of an ordinance.
USAID and National Association for Regulatory Utility Commissioners (NARUC) gave financial assistance to holding the workshop.
Rajshahi University (RU) Vice-Chancellor Professor M Altaf Hossain was present as the chief guest and CAB Central General Secretary Kazi Faruk was the main speaker at the inaugural session while CAB of Rajshahi district President Kazi Gias presided over the function.
RU Marketing Department Professor Dr Shah Alam acted as the moderator.
A total of 30 local journalists took part at the workshop.
Speaking on the occasion, M Altaf Hossain said that with increasing energy crisis, it was affordable to use solar power and biogas on a massive scale for our existence.
Also present on the occasion were CAB Treasurer Khalilur Rahman Sajal, USAID NARUK Project Chief AH Mostafa, CAB Project Coordinator Kazi Fazlul Haque, Editor of local daily Liakat Alim and Information Officer Shamsuzzoha, CAB Rajshahi District Secretary Golam Mostafa Mamun and CAB Divisional Programme Organiser Shabnam Nigar Laaz.
