Engineer killed as bus crashes into third terminal of Dhaka airport


An engineer of Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) was killed when a bus lost control and crashed through the security wall of the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport's third terminal on Friday morning.
The deceased, Maidul Islam Siddiqui, was a senior sub assistant engineer at the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh and resident of Bogura.
Airport Police Station sub-inspector Suman Chandra Das said that the accident took place at around 10.00 am on Friday when a bus of Raida Paribahan lost control and broke the security wall of the third terminal.
The bus then hit Maidul, who was riding a motorcycle. Later, Maidul was sent to Kurmitola General Hospital where the doctor declared him dead.
The body was sent to his ancestral house in Bogura following an autopsy at the Dhaka Medical College Hospital, said the official.
The police official said the bus has been seized, and efforts are underway to apprehend the driver and helper of the bus.
