Ensure surgeries at hospitals by surgeons: HC

A High Court (HC) Tuesday asked the health secretary and the director general (DG) of Directorate General of Health Services to issue directives to the heads of all hospitals to ensure that surgeries are carried out by surgeons, and supervise those, reports UNB.

The HC bench comprising Justice Quazi Reza-Ul Hoque and Justice ABM Altaf Hossain also issued a rule upon the government to explain in two weeks as to why it should not be directed to ensure modern and safe healthcare services at the hospitals. The health secretary, the DGHS DG, the president and the general secretary of Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council, the director and the registrar of Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RMCH) have been made respondents to the rule.
