Ensure transparency in spending public money: President

President M Abdul Hamid urged all custodians of public money to ensure accountability and transparency in financial dealings, reports BSS.
"Audit is very important to ensure accountability and transparency in spending public money," the President said as a three-member delegation led by Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) of Bangladesh Masud Ahmed submitted special audit report of 2014-15 to him at Bangabhaban in the city Monday.
President Hamid asked the CAG and other concerned to ensure that the public money used in country's socio-economic development is spent as per the rules and regulation, President's Press Secretary Joynal Abedin told the news agency after the meeting.
During the meeting, the President was apprised of the 24 Audit and Accounts reports of 2014-15 fiscal by the CAG, saying that the audit objections and financial losses have significantly come down than previous years.
Comptroller General of Accounts Abul Foyez M Abid, DCAG (O & R) Zakir Hossain and secretaries concerned to the President were also present.
