January 09, 2015 00:00:00

Turning down the bail plea, a Dhaka court asked the police on Thursday to interrogate Ekushey Television (ETV) chairman Abdus Salam at jail gate in five working days in connection with the case for violating the Pornography Control Act, reports UNB.

Passing the order, Metropolitan Magistrate Meher Nigar Suchana also turned a blind eye to the plea asking to interrogate the accused in police custody when the investigation officer (IO) of the case produced him before it this morning, showing him arrested in the case.

On January 6, the same court sent Salam to jail and fixed Thursday for hearing on his bail petition and a seven-day remand was sought by IO Shah M Aktheruzzaman Iliaas of the Detective Branch (DB) of police.

Detectives of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested the ETV chairman from in front of its office in the city's Karwan Bazar area while he was returning home early Tuesday.
