The European Union (EU) has released Euro 10.5 million to the primary education sector of Bangladesh under its Sector Budget Support operation.
According to a press release of the EU, the amount is the 3rd tranche payment of the Euro 51 million contribution of the EU to the Primary Education Development Programme (PEDP3).
Bangladesh has one of the largest education systems in the world with over 30 million students enrolled from pre-school to higher education institutions.
Over the last 15 years, the EU has been one of the largest partners of the government and civil society for education sector policy development and implementation in the country.
