Bangladeshi-American Professor Dr Ruhul Abid from Brown University, USA attended a webinar arranged by the Department of Pharmacy, East West University (EWU) recently, said a statement.
Dr Abid and his non-profit organisation, Health, and Education for All (HAEFA), have been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize this year. Title of his presentation was "Transforming healthcare delivery for the underserved and displaced population."
Dr Abid appreciated the initiatives of the Bangladesh government in achieving many of the Millennium Development Goals.
He laid emphasis on equity in access to health services while pursuing the Sustainable Development Goals.
Chief Adviser of EWU and a former governor of Bangladesh Bank Prof Dr Mohammed Farashuddin attended the event as the chief guest.
Chairman and Managing Director of Incepta Pharmaceuticals Ltd. Abdul Muktadir and leading pharmacist-journalist Subhas Singho Roy took part in the event as the special guests.
Chairperson of the Department of Pharmacy, EWU, Prof Dr Chowdhury Faiz Hossain presided over the programme, the statement added.
