A Dhaka court on Sunday sentenced a former executive engineer of civil aviation to 10 years imprisonment in a graft case filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) for illegally amassing wealth worth Tk 30 million, reports UNB.
The convict is Asir Uddin. Judge Sheikh NazmulAlam of Dhaka Special Judge's Court 4 also ordered to confiscate all of Asir's properties, including a building on a three-kantha plot at Uttara sector 14.
Under section 27 (1), Asir was sentenced to eight years in jail. The court also fined him Tk 0.2 million. By default, he has to serve six months in jail.
Besides, under section 26 (2), the court sentenced him to two years in jail and fined Tk 0.1 million. By Default, he has to serve three more months in jail.
ACC Deputy Director MahfuzaKhatun filed the case on May 14, 2017. Deputy Director MdManzurAlam submitted the chargesheet in 2018.
Asir was arrested from his office on December 12, 2017 and was released on bail later.
He has been sent to jail after the verdict.
