Dr Zarina Zaman, former professor of Department of Zoology, University of Dhaka, passed away after cardiac arrest in Michigan of the United States on September 17. She was 78.
Dr Zaman has left behind her three children (two sons and one daughter), daughter-in-law and son-in-law, six grandchildren, and a host of relatives, friends and well-wishers.
Family sources said she was admitted to a hospital after the attack and was in intensive care for a day before she breathed her last.
Dr Zarina Zaman was a Member of the Public Service Commission during 1990-1999 and was an athlete, organiser and expert in playing different musical instruments. She retired from her teaching profession in 2003.
Late Zarina Zaman who was popularly known as Dulu obtained a Bachelor's and an MSc Degree in Zoology from the Dhaka University (DU) in 1958 and 1959 respectively and joined the same department for her excellent results.
Late Zaman was born on September 19, 1937 to Dr Mohammad Khabir and Mrs Rowshara Khabir in Kolkata and married late Mohd Asaduz Zaman.
