Police recovered the body of a retired professor of Dhaka University (DU) from Kashimpur in Gazipur on Friday morning, three days after she went missing.

The deceased--Saida Khalek--was a teacher at the Institute of Nutrition and Food Science.

DU Proctor Prof. Dr. Golam Rabbani said Prof. Saida Khalek was killed over previous enmity.

Mahbub-e-Khoda, officer-in-charge (OC) of Kashimpur Police Station, said they retrieved the body of Prof. Saida from Kashimpur's Panishail area, around 200 yards off her rented house.

A man identified as Anwarul Islam was detained in this connection and he was being interrogated, the OC said.

"The reason behind her death could be known after getting forensic report," he added.

Victim's daughter Sadia Afrin lodged a general diary with the police station in this connection.
