Ex-MP Mostafiz, wife sued over illicit wealth, transactions

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has filed two separate cases against Mostafizur Rahman Chowdhury, former Member of Parliament for Chattogram-16 (Banshkhali), and his wife, Shaheen Akter Chowdhury, alleging accumulation of illegal wealth worth Tk30 million and suspicious transactions of around Tk220 million across 27 bank accounts.

The cases were filed on Monday at the ACC's Dhaka Integrated District Office by Deputy Assistant Director Md Abdullah Al Mamun.

Mostafizur Rahman Chowdhury has been named as an accused in both cases.

According to the case documents, Mostafizur Rahman Chowdhury, during his tenure as an MP, allegedly misused his power to acquire wealth of Tk187.5 million illegally.

These funds were allegedly funneled through 21 bank accounts in an attempt to conceal their source through suspicious transactions.
