Ex-Speaker Razzak Ali passes away

KHULNA, June 7 (UNB): Former Speaker Sheikh Razzak Ali died at his Farzipara residence here on Sunday. He was 87.

Sheikh Razzak, who had long been suffering from cancer, breathed his last at around 2:45 pm, Razzak's daughter Dr Shahnaz Razzak told the news agency.

He is survived by wife Begum Majed Ali, an educationist, and five daughters.

Meanwhile, President Md Abdul Hamid expressed shock at the death of former Speaker of the Jatiya Sangsad Sheikh Razzak Ali.

In a condolence message, the President recalled his role as the Speaker of Parliament and said Razzak Ali had conducted the proceedings of the House properly.
