Experts and academicians at a meeting Friday pledged to involve the country's teenaged students in conserving the bio-diversity of the country, reports UNB.
Wildlife Trust of Bangladesh (WTB) organised the follow up meeting of the workshop titled 'Training Adult Advisers for Teens for Planet Earth in Bangladesh' held on June 8 this year.
WTB Vice-chairman M Harunur Rashid inaugurated the follow up meeting held at Cosmos Centre in the afternoon.
WTB Chief Executive M Anwarul Islam welcomed the participants at the programme, conducted by Gawsia Wahidunnessa Chowdhury, the WTB programme officer and coordinator of 'Teens for Planet Earth'.
At the meeting, the adult advisers-teachers, zoo educators, NGO activists and conservationists-came up with information on the activities that they started with the environmental service learning projects involving their teen-aged students.
The teachers, foresters, zoo officials and NGO activists from different organisations also participated in the meeting where they explained how they have involved the teens in various activities related to nature and bio-diversity conservation.
About 12 projects involving the teen-aged students were discussed Friday. The students will display their projects in the Teen Fair, to be arranged by the Wildlife Trust in December.
This workshop is the beginning of the 'Teens for Planet Earth', an International initiative in Bangladesh.
