Commerce Minister Faruk Khan urged the British businessmen and Bangladeshi diaspora to invest in the country's export-oriented industries, a statement said Wednesday.
Mr Khan - who is now in London on an official visit to discuss trade and investment opportunities of the two countries - made the call in two seminars held in the British capital Tuesday.
London Chamber of Commerce organised a seminar styled 'Bangladesh Discover the Potential,' while the other titled 'Investment Potential in Bangladesh' was organised by British Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce.
While speaking at the first seminar, the minister said although trade between Bangladesh and the UK now stands at a satisfactory level, there is enough room to deepen it further.
He urged the British investors to invest in Bangladesh, particularly in power and gas sectors.
The UK adviser for International Business Sabe Tibbits spoke on the occasion.
At the second seminar, Bangladeshi expatriates, including top businessmen expressed their willingness to invest in Bangladesh. They, however, emphasised on improving the country's infrastructure and power situation, the commerce ministry statement said.
