FE journo receives ADBI award

Raihan M Chowdhury, Special Correspondent of The Financial Express stood 'first runner-up' in a category of Tokyo-based Developing Asia Journalism Awards (DAJA) 2009.
An article written by the FE journalist titled 'facing the natural disasters' published July 15 last brought the international award for Raihan in the climate change adaptation category.
The other three categories were poverty impact of the global financial crisis, government responses to the global financial crisis and infrastructure development.
The announcement of the final winners were made at the awards dinner and ceremony held in Tokyo recently.
Raihan earlier won the Dhaka Reporters' Unity (DRU) award in 2006.
Son of late Altafur Rahman Chowdhury and late Mir Ayesha Begum, Raihan hails from Moniandha of Akhaura thana in Brahmanbaria district.
There were 14 prizes among the 22 finalists for the four thematic categories in this year's DAJA competition initiated by Asian Development Bank Institute (ADBI).
Moffat Ghala Mamu of Solomon Islands won the first prize and Samisoni Pareti of Fiji stood 'second runner-up' in the climate change adaptation category.
