A fire broke out Friday at a fast food shop on the rooftop of a four-storey building in the city's Gulshan area.
However, there was no report of casualties.
The fire originated around 3:30 pm from a cigarette butt at Transcom Food Ltd at Gulshan Circle 1.
Two fire-fighting units from Tejgaon rushed to the spot and controlled the flames around 4:40 pm, according to fire service sources.
The extent to the loss caused by the fire was estimated at Tk 0.4 million and valuables worth Tk 0.8 million were saved, Nilufa Yasmin, inspector of fire service and civil defence, told the FF.
