Fire at Secretariat

A fire broke out at the 20-storey building, which housed the Ministry of Public Administration, at the Bangladesh Secretariat in the capital on Sunday. However, it was quickly doused with fire extinguishers.

Shahjahan Sikder, duty assistant director at the Fire Service and Civil Defence, said an exhaust fan on the ninth floor of the building caught fire due to an electric short circuit at around 2:00 pm.

Three units of fire-fighters rushed to the spot. However, the fire was extinguished before they arrived at 2:15 pm.
