A fire broke out at a multi-storey building in the capital's Dhanmondi 27 area on Wednesday.
However, no casualties were reported.
A duty officer of the Fire Service and Civil Defence said the building is located beside Bangladesh Eye Hospital.
Two units rushed to the spot at around 6:00 pm and brought the blaze under control at about 6:42 pm.
The cause of the fire and the extent of the damage would be determined after an investigation, he added.
