A fire broke out at the basement of Manosi Plaza in the capital's Farmgate area on Saturday.
However, there was no report of casualties.
Rozina Akter, duty officer of Fire Service and Civil Defense control room, told the FE that the fire originated at the basement of the building at around 9:20 am.
Five units of fire fighters rushed to the spot and doused the flame.
Some papers of a private bank were kept at the basement of the building, Rozina added.
It would be possible to ascertain the cause of the fire and the extent of damage after investigation, she said.
