Fire service stations to be set up at 76 UZs

The Cabinet Committee on Purchase approved Wednesday two projects worth over Tk 700 million that include establishing fire service and civil defence stations at 76 upazilas in the country.

The other project that also got the nod of the cabinet committee is for construction of a bulk terminal at Laldia, Patenga in Chittagong.

"The cost for establishing fire service and civil defence stations at 76 important upazilas in the country has been fixed at over Tk 569 million," Joint Secretary of the cabinet division Mostafizur Rahman told the media after the meeting.  

He said the work for setting up fire service and civil defence stations will be completed through "16 different lots."

Tk 140 million will be spent on Laldia Bulk Terminal, he added.

He said that MM Group of Canada and IWM received the work order.   

Finance Minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith presided over the meeting. Agriculture Minister Begum Matia Chowdhury, Housing and Public Works Minister Engineer Mosharraf Hossain and state minister for Labour and Employment Ministry Md Mojibul Haque Chunnu, among others, were present at the meeting on the day.
