First SAARC Youth Camp in Nov

A four-day SAARC youth camp, the first rally of youths of South Asia under the auspices of the regional forum, will be held at the Jatiyo Jubo Kendro in Savar towards the end of November, reports UNB.
Chief Adviser Fakhruddin Ahmed is expected to inaugurate the 'First SAARC Youth Camp-2007' at the National Youth Centre.
A total of 150 youths from SAARC countries, in the age group 16-22, will join the camp. Of them, 80 participants are from the host country Bangladesh and 10 each from other countries.
This was disclosed in an inter-ministerial meeting held at Youth and Sports Ministry Tuesday with its acting secretary Md Golam Mostafa Talukdar in the chair.
A 'National Steering Committee' headed by its secretary as chairman and an 'Organising Committee' headed by Director General of Youth Development Directorate Md Ismail Hossain as chairman have been formed to make the youth gathering a success.
The meeting also discussed the budget for the camp, its financing and security, selection of the host participants and other related factors, including function of the sub-committees.
The meeting informed that the decision of holding the 'SAARC Youth Camp-2007' was taken at the 14th SAARC Summit held in New Delhi this year. The proposal for holding the camp was approved at the technical committee related to SAARC Youth Women and Children.
