Five killed, two injured in separate road mishaps

KHULNA, Oct 22 (UNB): Five people were killed and two others injured in separate road mishaps Monday morning.
In Khulna, three people, including two businessmen, were killed and two others injured when a truck overturned near the toll-plaza of Khanjahan Ali Bridge, popularly known as Rupsha Bridge, Monday.
Police said the vegetable-laden truck from Nirala kitchen market in the city started for Madaripur at 8:30 am. While crossing the bridge the driver lost control over the steering and the vehicle after hitting an electric pole turned turtle killing the three on the spot.
The deceased were identified as businessmen Lovlu (33) and Mowla (35), of Madaripur and truck helper Paresh (26), of Kaliganj Upazila of Jhenidah.
The two injured, Masud Molla of Gopalganj and Ali Asgar of Madaripur, were admitted to the Khulna Medical College Hospital.
In Faridpur, two people were killed in a road mishap in Shuadi area under Bhanga Upazila Monday. Police quoting local people said the accident occurred at dead of night when a Gopalganj bound microbus hit a rickshaw van from behind, killing van driver Saber Matabbur (50) and its passenger Khaleque Nazir (52), on the spot.
