Five pirates arrested with two firearms in Sundarbans

BAGERHAT, Aug 23 (UNB): Five pirates were arrested along with two firearms and ammunition from a canal in Sharankhola range of Sundarbans area Wednesday afternoon.
Forest Department sources said a gang of pirates went to the canal with a trawler in the name of fishing taking permission from them.
But the forest officials chased them later for their suspicious movement and arrested five of the pirates identified as Monir Hossain, Ishaq, Shahid Khandakar, Akbar Gazi, and Maniruzzaman from Chan-deshwar area.
