Five robbers arrested in city

Five robbers were arrested while committing dacoity at two houses at Bautharpur of Barabarirtek under Uttarkhan thana in the capital early Tuesday, reports UNB.
Police said armed bandits, numbering 19/20, stormed into the houses of Abdul Awal and his brother Abdul Jabbar at about 2am and looted cash and valuables worth about Tk 4 lakh from the houses.
The robbers also beat up the family members when they tried to resist them.
Being informed by locals, police rushed to the spot and arrested five dacoits-Manjurul (25), Abdul Kuddus (27), Haran Mia (25), Hasibur (22) and Shah Alam (25) -- along with a live bomb and sharp weapon from the houses. They swooped on the houses by a trawler since the house was surrounded by floodwater, local sources said.
Of the injured family members, Khodeza Begum, 50, her daughter Kulsum Begum, 33, and grandson Farid Mia, 25 were rushed the Dhaka Medical College Hospital later.
