Five smugglers held with pesticides

BAGERHAT, Aug 28 (UNB): A joint team of Coastguard and Navy arrested five suspected smugglers and recovered 110 bottles of Indian pesticides from the Pashur river at Mongla Tuesday.
Navy sources said the joint team launched a drive in different areas of the river. On suspicion, they raided four trawlers at Bajua area and recovered the pesticides.
The Navy men also arrested the suspected smugglers and seized their trawlers.
Coastguard sources said a section of smugglers always sold the pesticides to the fishermen for use in illegal fishing in the Bay.
