Sources today said 17 villages under Sutirkha and Kamarkhola unions of Dacop Upazila went under water as the embankment breached at four points following surging sea water whipped by strong wind.
Besides, another 13 villages of Dakkhin Bedkar and Moheshwaripur unions in Koira Upazila were also inundated as flow of sea water damaged another embankment at three points.

Koira Upazila Chairman BM Mohsin Reza said the people in the affected areas have been experiencing untold sufferings due to the flash flood.
When contacted, Abdur Rab Howlader, divisional engineer of the Water Development Board (WDB) said they are taking necessary measures to repair the damaged embankments.
Another news from Sirajganj adds: local people and the workers of Water Development Board (WDB) under the supervision of Bangladesh Army continued their efforts to protect the damaged part of the town protection embankment.
Following the guidance of the Navy divers, construction work of a one kilometre-long wall around 70 to 80 metres off the embankment have already begun by piling sand bags in the river.
Habibur Rahman, Additional Director General of WDB while visiting the damaged portion of the embankment Tuesday told that the current towards the hard point of the embankment would be diverted to the east channel of the river so that the strong current could not hit the embankment.
Habibur Rahman, who is also a member of the six-member probe committee, said that dredging out of huge quantum of sand might be the reason behind the damage of the embankment, which was built by Korean company Hyundai. High officials of WDB, district administration, police and RAB members were present on the occasion.
