Foreign clothes worth Tk 200m seized by BCG

Bangladesh Coast Guard (BCG) seized foreign clothes worth Tk 200 million (20 crore) raiding a bulkhead on Meghna river adjacent to Tulatuli under Sadar upazila in Bhola district and arrested eight people in connection with the incident, reports UNB.
Lt Commander Abdur Rahman, a media officer at the BCG headquarters, confirmed the information on Sunday.
He said that based on secret information, BCG Base Bhola under the BCG South Zone conducted a special operation led by Lt Kazi Al-Amin in the area adjacent to Tulatuli of Meghna river in Bhola Sadar on early Friday.
During the operation, the BCG members searched a bulkhead on the river and seized 2173 pieces of high quality foreign sari, lehenga and three-pieces worth around Tk 200 million. Eight people were arrested from the Bulkhead during the operation.
The arrested people were identified as Md. Shahid (32), Md. Mofizul Islam (42), Md. Ismail (42), Md. Ruman Hawlader (35), Md. Ali Mia (28), Md Billal Mia, Md. Shahid Mia (45) and Md. Zafar Mia (52).
