Diplomats and employees of 32 foreign missions in Bangladesh have donated Tk 1.0 million for the country's recent flood victims, reports UNB.
Foreign Adviser Iftekhar Ahmed Chowdhury received the money in cash from Turkish Ambassador Ferit Ergin and Indian High Commissioner Pinak Ranjan Chakrabarty at his office in the city Tuesday.
Talking to the media afterwards, Iftekhar Ahmed said: "This demonstrates the solidarity that diplomats working with us personally feel for our country and people. I've thanked them profusely for the contribution and I called it a gift of love."
Ambassador Ferit Ergin also handed over a cheque for Tk 50,000 to the Foreign Adviser on behalf of ASEAN Ladies Association for the Chief Adviser's Relief Fund.
