Four held busting fake note racketeers' gang in city

Detective Branch of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested on Saturday four members of a fake note racketeers' gang including the ringleader from Kadomtoli area of the capital.

The arrestees were identified as Liakat Hossain Jakir alias Guru Jakir (40), his second wife Momtaz Begum (25), Lima Akter Rina (40) and Sajeda Akter (28).

They were accused of making fake notes targeting the upcoming Eid-ul-Adha.

Deputy Police Commissioner of the Detective Branch of Lalbagh division Mashiur Rahman disclosed the media about the development.

He said that they raided two houses in the said area and recovered over 10 million fake notes and other instruments like paper, special type of ink, security thread, laptop, four printers that were used for making fake notes.

He said that Liakat Hossain Jakir has been involved in making fake notes of Tk 500 and Tk 1,000 denominations over the last 12 years.

He said that Jakir also started making Tk100 and Tk 200 fake notes recently.

He said that the arrestees were preparing to release a huge amount of fake notes to the markets eying to gain on the occasion of the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha.
