Four jailed for keeping narcotics

RAJBARI, July 9 (UNB): Four people were sentenced to different terms of imprisonment by separate courts here Sunday for possessing narcotics.
Judge of the Special Tribunal No-4 M Syed Kamal Hossain sentenced drug peddler Sirajul Islam to seven years as 1,050 bottles of Phensidyl syrup was found in his car at Daulatdia ferry terminal. He was tried in absentia.
The court also fined him Tk 10,000, in default, to suffer one year more in jail.
The court also sentenced his car driver Mohammad Hashem to one-year imprisonment and fined him Tk 1,000. In case of failure to pay the money, he will have to serve jail for more three months.
In another case, Additional Sessions Judge Mohammad Shahidullah Bokaul sentenced two people - Noorjahan Begum and Tikka of Binodpur village under Sadar Upazila - to two years rigorous imprisonment for keeping 20 small packets of heroin.
