Four 'robbers' die in 'gunfight'

The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) shot dead three suspected robbers in what the elite police unit said was a gunfight at Dhamrai Upazila in Dhaka, report agencies.
RAB 2 Company Commander Anwar Razzak said the 'gunfight' took place at Kelia Morh around 4pm on Tuesday.
He said the deceased were aged between 30 and 40.
"They gathered in the area after getting information that a non-government development organisation of the Shoilen area was moving millions of Taka," the RAB officer said.
He said a RAB team went to the area following a tip-off that the robbers had gathered there. "The RAB personnel retaliated when the trio opened fire. The three died on the spot," Anwar added.
He also said two RAB members were injured in the 'gunfight'.
Meanwhile, a suspected mugger was killed in a reported gunfight between his cohorts and police in the Bypass Rail Gate area of Akhaura Upazila early Tuesday.
The deceased was identified as Khokon Sutradhar (30). Khokon was arrested along with Tk 1.86 million (18.68 lakh) looted from a private company representative on Monday afternoon, said Mosharraf Hossain, officer-in-charge of Akhaura Police Station.
A team of police conducted a drive in the Bypass Rail Gate area around 3:00am to arrest his accomplices.
Sensing the presence of the law enforcers, the hoodlums opened fire on police prompting them to retaliate that triggered a gunfight.
Khokon was caught in the line of fire and sustained bullet injuries while his cohorts managed to flee the scene.
