THAKURGAON, Feb 6 (UNB): Police arrested two frauds along with their two associates from Ashrampara in the town early Saturday, as one claimed himself to be Imam Mehdi and another Prophet Isa.
Police also recovered a huge number of books and leaflets written on Imam Mehdi, the spiritual leader who, according to Muslim belief, will be sent back by Allah to restore justice a few years before the Day of Judgment (Qayamah).
Police said that they raided Imam Mehdi Darbar Sharif early today and arrested the so-called Imam Mehdi Harun-ur Rashid (55), and self-claimed Prophet Isa Ansarul Haq (50), and their cohorts Zahurul Islam and Mukut Rana for their involvement in anti-Islamic activities.
The frauds, having nearly 300 disciples, have long been cheating local people with false claims.
