A freelance journalist was killed in a road accident on Rampura Bridge in the city Friday noon.
Officer-in-Charge of Rampura Police Station Mahbubur Rahman confirmed the incident to the Financial Express.
According the police, a covered van knocked Sabiha while she was crossing the road on the Rampura Bridge, leaving her injured critically.
Shovon Debnath, a passerby, took her to Al Raji Hospital at Rampura first and later she was transferred to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) where she succumbed to her injuries.
Mahbubur Rahman said the driver along with the covered van was detained from city's Badda area.
BSS adds: In Badda in the city, Shah Ali suffered critical injuries as the leguna turned turtle in Alir Mor (crossing) area as its driver lost control over the steering in the morning, police said.
Ali was taken to DMCH where the on-duty physicians pronounced him dead.
Two separate cases were lodged.
