Garbage truck kills one in city

A man was killed after being hit by a garbage truck while crossing the road at Kalapatti in Jatrabari of the capital.

The incident happened around 10:00 pm on Thursday (October 23).

The deceased was identified as Mohammad Iqbal Hossain (35), son of Abul Hossain, from Paschim Chokhra in Banaripara of Barishal.

The garbage truck that struck Iqbal belonged to the Dhaka South City Corporation, according to local residents.

Sub-Inspector of Jatrabari Police Station Mohammad Mizanur Rahman said the victim's body was recovered from the scene and sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) morgue for autopsy after completing legal procedures.
