Garment worker dies in city while saving kid

A garment worker was crushed under the wheels of a train while trying to save a child playing on the rail tracks at Sainik Club at  Banani in the city on Monday, reports UNB.
The deceased was identified as Md Sumon (40), son of late Abdul Quddus of Nandail in Mymensingh. Sumon was residing at the Karail slum of Banani.
Quoting witnesses police said Sumon saw a child (8), playing on the rail tracks when a Dhaka- bound train was approaching at about 3:30 pm.
As Sumon jumped onto the rail track to save the child the train hit him, leaving him injured.
Critically injured Sumon was rushed to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital where doctors pronounced him dead at about 4:45 pm, said Sub-inspector (SI) Rafiqul Isla of Kamalapur GRP thana.
However, the child remained unhurt.
