Girl gang-raped in Rajshahi

RAJSHAHI, Apr 8 (UNB): An adolescent girl was allegedly gang-raped outside the boundary of Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology (RUET) in the city Tuesday evening.
Two of the suspected rapists were arrested from the city shortly after the heinous act.
Police said four culprits-Rocky, Sujan, Maruf and Sabiul- pursued the girl after she got down from a bus from Dhaka at Talaimari crossing in the evening.
"They caught her near the RUET and raped her one after another. The rapists left the place leaving the girl in an unconscious state," said police, quoting statement of the victim.
After regaining consciousness, the victim went to the councilor of ward No 26 and informed him about the matter.
Being informed by the councilor, police talked to the girl and arrested Rocky and Sujan from the area Tuesday night. The two others went into hiding.
Assistant Police Commissioner of Motihar Zone MK Jahangir Hossain said the girl filed a case in this connection.
She was sent to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital for examination.
