Gold trader slaughtered in Ctg

CHATTOGRAM, June 23: A gold trader was killed at Bondortila in the port city.

The victim is Sonjoy Dhar (46), son of Shudharam Dhar at Foteyarkul in Ramu upazila of Cox's Bazar.

He was the owner of Monisree Jewellers in Bondortila area in the port city.

Police recovered the throat-slit body of the victim at 12:00 noon on Sunday.

Locals and police said Sonjoy Dhar was staying at his shop Monisree Jewellers on Friday night and at the night four to five persons came to his shop to meet him. After completing their talks, Sonjoy closed the shop and slept inside the shop.

However, he did not open his shop until Sunday morning. Around 12:00 noon, neighbours smelt bad odour coming from the shop and called the police. Breaking the shutter, police entered the shop and found Sonjoy lying dead on the floor. They recovered the body of the victim and sent it to the morgue of Chattogram Medical College Hospital for autopsy.

Police said, "Sonjoy was slaughtered to death. The miscreants damaged the CCTV camera of the shop before killing him."

Assistant Commissioner (Port) of Chattogram Metropolitan Police told the journalists that the killing of the gold trader is a pre-planned one. Police recorded a case with EPZ thana in connection with the murder.

"Police is working to nab the killers," he added.
