Govt employees for lowest basic pay at Tk 18,000

CHITTAGONG, Dec 8: Class-III and class-IV government employees staged demonstration today in front of the Chittagong Press Club demanding implementation of their five points including the lowest basic salary at Tk 18,000 per month.

Hundreds of government employees under the banner of Bangladesh Government Karmachari Samannay Parishad, Chittagong District Branch joined the demonstration at around 12:00 pm as part of programme of their central committee, they said.

President of the organisation's Chittagong District Unit, Shahid Uddin Kamal, presided over the rally while general secretary Mobasser Hossain Selim, joint secretary Yasin Arafat Bitu and SM Helal Uddin addressed it.

They said the scales should be in 10th grade with effect from July 1, 2015. Other demands include framing of a permanent pay and service commission and upgradation of the employees like those working in the directorates and departments.
