Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said Tuesday the stance of her government is very clear towards protecting global peace and against all kinds of terrorism, and underscored that Bangladesh Armed Forces would have to move ahead imbued with the same ideal, reports UNB.
"We're pledge-bound to establish international peace and security. Our stance is very clear towards protecting global peace and against all kinds of terrorism, and our Armed Forces would have to move ahead imbued with the same ideal," she said.
The Prime Minister was addressing the graduation ceremony of the
Defence Services Command and Staff College (DSCSC) 2014-15 Course and certificate awarding ceremony held at the Mirpur Cantonment in the city.
Ministers, opposition leader in parliament, Security Adviser to the Prime Minister, chiefs of Army, Navy and Air Force, diplomats, and high civil and military officials were present at the function.
The Prime Minister expressed the hope that every institution of the country would be developed and move ahead keeping pace with other organisations of the world.
Commandant of the DSCSC Major General Sajjadul Haque delivered the welcome address at the function. This year, in the 'DSCSC 2014-15' course, a total of 214 officers including 120 from Bangladesh Army, 23 officers from Bangladesh Navy, 19 officers from Bangladesh Air Force and 52 overseas officers from China, Egypt, India, Indonesia, Jordan, Kuwait, Liberia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Nepal, Nigeria, Pakistan, Palestine, Philippines, Republic of Korea, Saudi Arabia, Sierra Leone, Sri Lanka, Tanzania, Turkey, USA and Zambia have successfully graduated from this college.
So far, some 3,127 Bangladeshi officers and 860 overseas officers from 37 friendly countries have graduated from the college.
The DSCSC is a tri-services training institution of the Bangladesh Armed Forces. The purpose of establishing such an institution was to prepare selected officers of the three services for the assumption of increasing responsibilities both in command and staff appointment.
The Prime Minister said during her first tenure in office, she took initiative to expand the armed forces and established a number of units following the Defence Policy 1974 framed by the Father of the Nation.
