Govt official couple killed in Manikganj road crash

MANIKGANJ, Jun 6 (UNB): A government official couple was killed as a bus hit a motorcycle carrying them on Dhaka-Aricha highway in Sadar Upazila of the district Friday noon.

The dead are Doyal Chandra Sarkar and his wife Dr Dulali Rani Sarkar, hailing from Sakuchia village in Harirampur Upazila of the district.

Doyal was a fisheries officer of Shariatpur district while Dulali a livestock officer of sadar upazila in Makinganj.

Witnesses said the Manikganj-bound bus of 'Village Line Paribahan' hit the motorcycle from behind in BSCIC area at about 12:00 pm while it was overtaking another bus, leaving biker Doyal and his wife Duali dead on the spot.

The couple met the tragic end of their life while going to Dhaka from Manikganj.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Golra Highway Police Humayan Kabir confirmed the incident and said police recovered the bodies and sent those to Sadar hospital morgue for autopsies.

Police seized the bus but its driver managed to flee the scene.
